Welcome to our "Commissions Corner!"

Advisory boards and commissions provide for citizen participation in issues concerning the City and its residents. The City Council values the comments and recommendations from the various advisory boards and commissions. Advisory board and commission meetings are usually held at Bloomington Civic Plaza, 1800 West Old Shakopee Road.

Council seeks advisory board members

The following advisory boards and commissions are seeking applicants:

  • Advisory Board of Health, 952-563-8919
    Advises the City Council on issues related to personal and public health needs of Bloomington residents. There are positions for both health care providers and consumers.
  • Board of Appeal and Equalization, 952-563-8706
    Hears appeals of property values established by City assessors; meets as needed. Members must have experience as an appraiser, Realtor, real estate attorney, property manager or be familiar with real estate valuation in the City.
  • Human Rights Commission, 952-563-8733 (TDD 952-563-8740]
    Advises the City Council on matters regarding human rights, mediates complaints of discrimination, provides education and advocates for human rights issues of the community. The nine members include two Youth positions for one-year terms and seven Adult positions for two-year terms.
  • Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission, 952-563-8877
    Advises the City Council on matters of capital development, improvement and maintenance of city parks as well as recreation and cultural arts programs. Adult terms are for three years, youth terms are for one-year.
