The Community Development Department:

Defines future City directions through long-range plans and zoning requirements.
Reviews development proposals for compliance with City standards.
Protects public health and safety by ensuring compliance with State and City codes (see permit applications and forms).
Implements housing and redevelopment plans.
Educates customers and encourages voluntary compliance (see handouts).
Coordinates with other government units.
