Transportation Demand ManagementZoning ordinance updateLast updated: December 23, 2009 The purpose of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is to promote more efficient use of existing transportation facilities, reduce traffic congestion and mobile source pollution, and to ensure that new developments are designed in ways to maximize the potential for alternative transportation usage. TDM is a combination of services, incentives, facilities and actions that reduce single occupancy vehicle trip to help relieve traffic congestion, allow parking flexibility, and reduce air pollution. Recognizing that development size and land use directly affect traffic generation, the City has proposed two levels of TDM program applicability:
The I-494 Corridor Commission was established in 1986 as a joint powers organization to address concerns about increasing traffic congestion along the I-494 Corridor. The commission works to encourage economic growth and regional prosperity by improving transportation options.
