The future of Bloomington's parks

The future is bright for Bloomington's parks system.

On April 21, 2008, the Bloomington City Council approved a comprehensive update of Bloomington's Park Master Plan that establishes a 20-year vision for park, recreation, open space, cultural and historical preservation, public art, and trail and bikeway systems. The five major plan initiatives are:

• Revitalize parks by the renewal of aging facilities and the creation of signature parks.
• Create sustainable funding for park improvements and acquisitions.
• Add trails to connect the City and provide recreational opportunities.
• Enhance natural resources to improve management, access and sustainability.
• Improve recreation facilities and programs to build a sense of community and to serve the needs of our residents.
