Summer Spectrum Registration

Online registration

Based on feedback from our customers, the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Division is proud to continue to offer: Real Time Online Registration! Here are some important pointers for registering online:

  1. You must have a username and password in order to register.
    • If you have used this service in the past and remember your username and password ~ you are ready for 2010! There is no need to do anything prior to registering for programs on or after 9 a.m. on March 13. Be sure to update your child's grade before registering.
    • Can't remember your username or password? Call Parks and Recreation (952-563-8877) or send us an e-mail and we will reply as soon as possible with your username and password. (See #2 below.)
    • New to our Parks and Recreation classes? (NEVER participated before?) You will need to click on the link: "I'm new and have never participated before" on the online registration sign-in page and follow the instructions.
    • Not new to Parks and Recreation classes but NEW to online registration? GUESS WHAT! There is already a user name and password set up for you! Click on "I've taken Parks and Recreation classes in the past" or call Parks and Recreation (952-563-8877) or send us an e-mail and we will reply as soon as possible with your username and password.
  2. Do not wait until Saturday, March 13, to get your username and password! It may take one full business day before you receive a message confirming your username and password.
  3. Online Registration opens at 9 a.m. on March 13, 2010. You will not be able to register before 9 a.m. on March 13, 2010. Online registration will be available 24 hours a day until registration closes for each session.

Super Sign-Up Saturday

Super Sign-Up is Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Bloomington Civic Plaza. This is a great chance to find out what's going on and get registered all at once. Based on feedback from our customers, we have made significant changes to Super Sign-Up Saturday!

Six ways to register

Option 1: Online, beginning at 9 a.m. on March 13.
NO MORE WAITING IN LINE! Sign up online beginning at 9 a.m. on March 13, 2010, and available 24 hours a day until classes are full or registration closes for each session. Here's a link to the online system:

Option 2: Super Sign-Up Saturday.
 Registration begins at 9 a.m. Numbers will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Please have your registration forms thoroughly completed, including alternate class choices. Although we make every attempt to fill first choices, it is important to have discussed alternate class choices with your child in case your first choice is no longer available. Please be prepared to wait in line. Volunteers will review your registration forms with you before staff enters the information into our system. Your receipt will be emailed or mailed to you.

Don't have access to a computer but want to use the Online Program Services system to sign up on Saturday? Or do you want to learn how to register online? At 9 a.m., we will have a limited number of computers available at Civic Plaza for you to access the online registration with staff and volunteers to assist you. Computers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Transportation is available for Super Sign-up Saturday! Please RSVP to Parks and Recreation by March 8, 2010, at 952-563-8877.

Option 3: By mail.
 Mail in a completed registration form for each child with your payment either by check, money order (made payable to the "City of Bloomington") or credit card (complete credit card part of registration form, including expiration date) to: Summer Spectrum, Parks and Recreation, 1800 West Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55431.

Registrations mailed in before March 13 will be added to class lists in the order received, starting Monday, March 15.

Option 4: In person.
 Starting March 15, stop by and visit us! Parks and Recreation Office, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Option 5: Scan and e-mail.
 If you have the ability to scan your registration form - this works great! Just scan with payment information, then e-mail it to parksrec@ci.bloomington.mn.us.

Option 6: Fax it in.
 Beginning March 15, fax your completed registration form for each child and credit card information to Summer Spectrum, Bloomington Parks & Recreation 952-563-8715.

Remember:

  • If you plan to use the online registration system, act now, don't wait to get your username and password.
  • Register your child for the grade they will enter in the fall of 2010.
  • Payments received from you will be processed immediately.
  • Registrations mailed in before March 13 will be added to class lists in order received starting Monday, March 15.

Class cancellations due to lack of enrollment will begin May 14. Limited class openings may be available after this date. You can check on class enrollment status in our Online Program Services system - click to visit!

Important policies...

  • Enrollments
    Enrollments will be accepted up to 1 week prior to the first day of the program/activity. Enrollments made within 2 weeks of the start of class will not be eligible for any sort of refund if subsequently cancelled by participant. (See cancellation policy below.)
  • Cancellations*
    Contact Parks and Recreation directly (phone, e-mail, in person) to request a cancellation. When making changes or cancellations, please be aware of the Summer Spectrum Transfer/Cancellation Policies below. Cancellations cannot be processed through our Online Program Services system.
    • Cancellations made by Parks & Recreation.
      • Due to lack of enrollment ... 100% Refund.
      • Due to inclement weather, Summer Spectrum classes ... Full refunds will be given on a prorated basis if only a portion of the class is cancelled.
    • Cancellations made by participant.
      • Within 2 weeks of the start of class ... NO Refund.
      • With at least 2 weeks notice ... FULL refund less a $10 processing fee.
  • Transfers and substitutions*
    Transferring must occur two weeks or more before the start of class for any refund to be given if a credit exists. The cancellation policy above applies for less than 2 week transfers. You must contact Parks and Recreation to transfer. A $10 processing fee will apply. No participant substitutions will be allowed for any program.
  • Waitlists
    If a spot opens up in a class for which you are waitlisted, every attempt will be made to contact you by telephone and email if contact information is provided. You will be given 24 hours to respond and pay for the program/activity. We accept credit card payments by phone or online. After the 24 hours is up, your spot may be given to the next participant on the waitlist, if one exists.

* Swim Trips & Field Trips - NO refunds or transfers will be allowed (between participants or between Swim/Field Trips).
