Family Health Services

Public Health Nurse services are provided in the community at no charge to families and individuals.

We are a sponsor of the new Minnesota Parents Know website  external link. Visit the Web site, developed by the Minnesota Department of Education, for trusted information about child learning, development, health, and safety.

Home visits

Nurses provide education, counseling, and support for expectant mothers, new parents, and families. They are a resource for health care questions, food concerns, counseling, child growth and development, and safe living conditions. Nurses are also a link to local family resources.

Family Support Program

Information and referral counseling for families/individuals looking for guidance in dealing with stressful family living situations or violence.

SHIELD (South Hennepin Interagency Early Learning and Development)

Planning and coordination services for children (birth to three years of age) with special needs such as behavior problems, delayed speech, disabilities and other developmental concerns.

Childcare provider services

Phone and on-site consultation* on child health issues and developmental concerns by a public health nurse.

* A fee will be charged for on-going consultations

Services for adolescents, pregnant teens and teen parents

Education, nursing services, and health counseling provided in the home and at community sites.
