Graffiti on the rise in City parks
Incidents cost time, money to repair
Bloomington City parks have experienced an increase in graffiti incidents. The suspects have
used primarily black and white spray paint to write the initials “CAZ” on park property. This
moniker is sometimes accompanied by a bird symbol. The City has spent staff time and
money cleaning up the graffiti.
We need your help in solving this crime. If you know the identity of the persons responsible
for these graffiti incidents, please call Detective Michael Utecht, 952-563-8873.
Take the time to report suspicious activity by immediately calling 9-1-1.

Tarnhill Park
Between Friday 7/24 and Tuesday 7/28, 7:44 a.m.
Graffiti: Initials “CAZ” done in pink and orange, and #13.

Sunrise Park
Between Saturday 7/25, 8 p.m. and Monday, 7/27, 7 a.m.
Graffiti: South side wall of the park shelter "CAZ".

Sunrise Park
Between Tuesday, 7/28, 11:59 p.m., and Wednesday, 7/29/09, 8:30 a.m.
Graffiti: “CAZ” in white, and "No more dead ewoks" in black. Doors had just
been repainted on 7/28 from a previous incident.

Sunrise Park
Between Monday, 8/3, 1:30 a.m., and Monday, 8/3, 3:40 a.m.
Graffiti at south and east facing doors of main park building. Painted a bird with "CAZ"
inside it and green on the electrical box, along with several areas of the hockey boards.
Also pushed over the picnic tables. (An officer drove through at 1:30 a.m., and two hours
later there was damage.)

Southwood Playlot
Tuesday, 8/4, 3 p.m.
Graffiti discovered by park maintenance worker. The graffiti was on the east side of the
maintenance building by the playground. The word “CAZ” was one of the tags.
