Traffic Engineering Section

Traffic Engineering works with residents and businesses on property access and traffic control. We also act as liaison with other public jurisdictions on local and regional roads, walkways, bikeways and transit service. The Section works closely with the Maintenance Division which manages more than 4,000 roadway lights, 130 traffic signal systems and 15,000 signs.

Traffic Management
The Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission (TTAC) and Engineering Division staff have studied traffic calming devices and their appropriate uses, and have prepared a Policy and Procedure Manual describing installation, operation and maintenance of these devices.

  Adopted by the City Council on 12/7/98.

  Adopted by the City Council on 7/21/97.
494 Corridor Commission
The I-494 Corridor Commission, composed of representatives from the seven member cities, the Department of Transportation, Hennepin County, Metropolitan Council, and the private business community, works to encourage economic growth and regional prosperity through improved transportation options along Interstate 494.
