Help control the products that are dumped into the waste stream. Reduce -- buy only what you need, rent equipment you use infrequently and think about the environmental consequences of your purchases. Reuse -- if you no longer need something, give it to someone who can use it and check out used goods before purchasing new. Recycle -- given a chance, many items can be transformed into something new.

  • South Hennepin Recycling and Problem Waste Drop-off Center
    Located at 1400 West 96th Street in Bloomington, the center will accept recyclables and hazardous wastes.
  • Freecycle.org - a free online exchange for unwanted goods
    The Freecycle Network is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. Membership is free.
  • The FREE Market - a great way to give or get free stuff
    Residents can now clean out their clutter using an interactive, free Web site. Twin Cities Free Market is a nonprofit organization used to divert reusable and repairable items from the waste stream.
