Webcasts using Microsoft Silverlight or Windows Media Player

Watch City Council and Planning Commission meetings, weekly cable shows and special videos online by using Windows Media Player or Microsoft Silverlight, free applications, to stream the media. This software is available for the Windows, Windows Mobile and Mac operating systems.

On May 1, 2009, the City upgraded its streaming video service. This improved service, called QwikCast, has a more robust bandwidth for a more reliable and trouble-free viewing experience.

Microsoft Silverlight

When using browsers other than Internet Explorer, you will need to download Silverlight.

Internet connection requirements

The minimum requirement for an Internet connection is a 56K modem. High-speed Internet access, such as DSL, cable, T-1 or ISDN is recommended for improved performance. The quality of the video stream is dependent on the volume of Internet traffic at the time of transmission and is not impacted by your hardware.

NOTE: Pop-up windows and JavaScript need to be enabled.

Minimum hardware requirements

  • Intel Pentium II 200 MHz processor (or compatible).
  • 64 MB of RAM.
  • 100 MB of free hard drive space.
  • 1024 x 768 video display with 16,000 colors (16 bit video).
  • Sound card and either speakers or headphones.

Minimum software requirements

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later to ensure access to all features and enhancements.
  • Windows Media Player 6.4 (for Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT* users).
  • Windows Media Player 7.0 or later (for Microsoft Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 users).
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later.
