Bloomington skate park to be renovated

City receives $25,000 donation to make updates to park

The City of Bloomington received a $25,000 donation from Bobby and Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation to help rebuild the Valley View Skate Park on 90th Street and Portland Avenue, next to the parking lot at Red Haddox Field. The check was presented at a City Council meeting on February 6.

Friends of the Bloomington Skate Park held a fundraiser last summer that raised more than $2,700, plus an additional $400 in t-shirt sales, for the renovations. Bobby and Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation offered to match above and beyond the amount raised. The organization’s $25,000 donation includes $1,000 from Quality Bike Products of Bloomington and $1,000 from the Trygstad Family.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring. Once construction is complete, all donors will be recognized on a sign at the park.
