First page of the News, July 1987
The City's first newsletter News was published in July 1987. Two issues were printed the first year with circulation limited to Bloomington Sun-Current subscribers. Written by assistants to the Mayor and the City Manager, the newsletter was typeset and laid on white boards using Xacto knives and rubber cement.

In March, the City Council approved the name "American Boulevard" for the route that follows Green Valley Drive, Norman Center Drive, Bridge Road, and 79th and 80th Streets.
